The Great Cat Crouton Caper

WANTED

FOR CROUTON ROBBERY AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT

If you see this cat don't DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT!
Go immediately to Oreo My Cat

Oreo was a naughty cat before Thanksgiving.  Jill made some croutons the night before we were to travel two hours to have our Thanksgiving dinner.  Jill left a grocery bag with the croutons in it on the floor thinking nothing of it and we went to bed.
Oreo decided that was the perfect time to throw off her good cat persona and become a savage, hungry, wild beast.  Oreo apparently climbed into the grocery bag which she does.  She discovered the crouton smell coming from a ziplock bag, and bit a few holes in it, so she could lick some croutons and play with them.  This is something, I think, every cat would do if given the chance.  In hindsight, it was pretty obvious Oreo would do this.  She adores Cheetos and is always very interested in our toast.  The other thing she did is a surprise though; Oreo bit open a bread bag and gnawed off the edge of a few slices.  I have no idea how she got a taste for plain bread.
Oreo was trying to raise the dead rather early in the morning.  Jill and I managed to doze through a good portion of it because Oreo does such things from time to time.  Sometime between her caterwauling, I believe the crime was committed.  If only we had checked on her.
What could've caused such strange behavior?  This is a constant question on many cat owner's minds.  In The Curious Incident of the Cat in the Nighttime, I hypothesize that Oreo knew we were leaving because our bags were packed.  Oreo does not like it when we leave her, therefore, she doesn't like it when we pack our bags.  Cats have unique ways of showing their displeasure. Anyone care to share their unhappy cat story?

Daredevil Cat

Oreo used to be a stunt cat.  She used to live in town house where she could dash up the stairs and play around all over!  She could even get up on the ledge to spy on people coming up the stairs. Oreo really liked that town house.

Now, one of Oreo's favorite past times is to lay in things she doesn't really fit in.  Some day There may not be anything left for Oreo to fit in!

A Cat in Sheep's Clothing

Oreo likes to lay on clothes.  This is my wool shirt.  I think Oreo secretly likes wool.  She dreams of running down a ferocious sheep.  She will then swipe and lick the poor creature to death.  The aftermath, of course, will involve her laying on the corpse.  She has some very active dreams.

Dr. Oreo

Sometimes Oreo just needs a pillow.  Sometimes Oreo knows when I am sick and she will make a point to be nearby.  Jill hurt her foot the other day and Oreo felt this was the perfect opportunity to comfort her and get a nice pillow. It was very relaxing for everyone involved, Oreo most of all.

Fairy Cat

Once upon a time, a fairy cat named Oreo landed in Minnesota.  She needed to rest, so she found a nice soft spot in a certain house.  When the people who lived at the house came home they found Oreo sleeping on their blanket!

Oreo was just closing her eyes when the ruckus of the people awoke her.  She was so relaxed on her soft blanket that she forgot to hide.  The people saw Oreo and could barely believe their eyes.  Most people don't believe in fairy cats. When Oreo saw the people she got embarrassed.  This situation was just not proper.  Oreo looked around and decided that she should stay with these people for awhile.  She put her wings away and meowed for some food.

This is Your Wake Up Cat Call

Hello, my name is Oreo and I would like to let you know that it is 3 AM.  If you have received this wake up call in error feel free to go back to sleep while I stand in this window and stare at you.  There is nothing creepy about this.

Sylvester and Isobel

This is Oreo's friend, Isobel.  Isobel is an old cat that never grew out of her kitten body.  She has a pink nose and is very cute all over.  Sometimes Isobel sleeps on her heating pad.  Krissy thinks it is hers, silly Krissy.

From @civilwarmatron
Sometimes Isobel goes outside and walks around.  She likes to hide in the leaves in the big garden and nap.  She thinks that is just fine.  Isobel does not like being cold.  In the winter Isobel will trade the leaves for the heating pad.

While Isobel is sleeping in the leaves, her roommate Sylvester finds a place to do his business.  Sylvester does most of his business outside now, because he was not doing it in the litter box before. Sylvester is outside in the fence yard a lot of the time.  He likes it because there are so many things to sniff, like flowers and a tree.

Sylvester has a thick fur coat.  Maybe he will like being outside this winter.  Isobel will stick with her heating pad.  Sylvester named his new sled Rosebud after he did his business on it.  He named it that because he likes the movie Citizen Kane.  He also likes Isobel's nose, which looks like a rosebud to him.  Isobel will have nothing to do with him and his advances though.  Maybe in the winter he can ride his sled over the tall fence to sniff the other side.

Roadkill Cat

Contrary to popular opinion the reports of Oreo's demise are untrue.  She was only sleeping and  her wardrobe malfunctioned.  She again implores the paparazzi to leave her private life private.

Pizza Cat

Oreo loves pizza. Judging by her belly maybe she loves it a little too much. jill and I have been feasting on a pizza for a couple of days and when we put the box by the door to be taken out with the trash, Oreo decided it was time for her to get in on the action. She thoroughly investigated the box and when she found that it was empty. She decided to sit on it for a while. If Oreo loves something more than pizza it could only be boxes. Many thanks to Jill's coat tree for providing a cameo.

Fierce Stringy Cat

Oreo sometimes wishes she was a postal worker. She usually is most enthusiastic about this wish when we are wrapping things to mail or gift. She really enjoys the string, I think it's her favorite. She does not like loose ends, every end must be dominated and controlled by her. She will pounce on them and bite the offending ends with gusto. I would not wish her most vigorous string attacks on anyone.

Ikea Cat

Jill and I bought some new furniture from Ikea one day and I decided to go to the cat section and pick out a Swedish designer cat. That is an Ikea price tag in the picture if you can't tell.  This kitty seemed just right, like when you finally find the right chair after wandering around Ikea for hours and hours. I did have to assemble her at home using the tools they provided. The table was a mess when we were finished. But we had our very own Ikea kitty. She was beautiful, seemingly unique and well built. I took this picture soon after assembly. We haven't had any problems with her. We just have to remember to tighten the screws now and then. A few neighbors have even liked her so much they have gotten there very own.  Not in the same color, thank god. We will have to go get some unique handles for her.

Hungry Cat and DST

No matter how often i explain it Oreo cat does not understand daylight savings time.

Lorkin Jr.

This is Lorkin Jr. She is a rabbit. She is named after a donkey that my friends adopted and gifted as a wedding present. Everyone loves the donkey and bunny. I'm sure Oreo would too.

Worry Beads

My uncle gave me some worry beads that I cherish and Oreo enjoys making me worry about them.

Radioactive Cat

Sparkle Balls

Oreo really loves her sparkle balls. We got one at the pet store for her and she quickly adopted it. We had to go get more. She carried them around the house and would passionately attack them. She also would drop them in shoes to try to get it out again. Sometimes we'd get a surprise putting on our shoes when she forgot them.

Cat Travel Tip

When you are packing for a trip always remember to check your bags thoroughly for feline stowaways.

Introducing Oreo!

Oreo is about 9 years old we adopted her from my wife's cousin as part of a cat separation.  She already had her name when we got her.  She is a wonderful cat who talks a lot.  She is interested in people but she hates being approached by strangers.  I like taking pictures of her.  I also snap pictures of other animals that I interact with.  I thought I'd start a blog showcasing Oreo's oddities.
